This table measures 80″ at its widest x 36″ at the deepest. In 1958, George Nakashima designed a series of furniture for Widdicomb called the “Origins Series”. Among the designs was the Sundra coffee table which I was commissioned to make a version of when I first started out. After making many of those, I was tasked with making a dining table/desk version which proved challenging in so far as creating a stable table base which didn’t detract from the top and added visual appeal. This table is cherry and uses hand cut joinery.
